Applications are invited from eligible candidates for appointment on a contract basis to the position of Research Associate in the project “Systematic documentation of traditional medicinal plant knowledge of indigenous communities in Kerala” funded by the SciGenom Research Foundation.

Details of the Position

• Name of the Post: Research Associate
• Location: Cheruthuruthi, Thrissur, Kerala
• Tenure: 1 year (extendable for one additional year based on performance)
• Fellowship: ₹40,000 per month (Consolidated)
• Essential Qualification: *Ph.D. in Botany with specialization in Ethnobotany or MD in Dravya Guna.
• Desirable Qualification:
  • Experience in conducting field surveys and documentation.
  • Ability to identify medicinal plants
• Age Limit: 40 years

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be required to:

• Conduct extensive field surveys in designated study areas.
• Collect, record, and curate ethnobotanical data from field sites.
• Identify medicinal and other useful plant species with accuracy.
• Interact with local communities and document traditional knowledge related to plant use.
• Assist in preparing reports, scientific manuscripts, and presentations.
• Maintain field notes, sample data, and project-related documentation systematically.
• Support other research activities as assigned by the project investigator.
