HMBGRI is located at Cheruthuruthi in Thrissur district of Kerala, close to the renowned Kerala Kalamandalam. The serene 27-acre campus lies alongside the lush Akamala Reserve Forest, offering a tranquil and picturesque setting.

HMBGRI is well connected by rail and road. The institute is located about 32 km north of Thrissur town along the Cheruthuruthi–Nedumpura Road. The nearest railway station is Shornur (SRR, approximately 5 km from HMBGRI. The nearby airports are Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery (COK, about 82 km from HMBGRI, and Coimbatore Airport (CJB) in Tamil Nadu, about 120 km away.
