A healing garden

Ayur Udhyana

Within the serene expanse of HM Garden lies a thoughtfully curated section known as Ayur Udhyana, a living sanctuary dedicated to the rich heritage of Ayurvedic medicinal plants. This specialized garden preserves and showcases plant species traditionally used by Ayurveda physicians and respected tribal healers, offering visitors a meaningful connection to nature-based healing practices.
The garden is uniquely designed to represent the three classical ecological regions described in Ayurveda — Jangala Desha (dry land), Anoopa Desha (wetland), and Sadharana Desha (mixed land). By observing plants in environments that mirror their natural habitats, students and visitors gain a deeper understanding of how soil, moisture, and climate influence the growth, potency, and therapeutic value of medicinal flora.
More than a collection of plants, Ayur Udhyana serves as an open-air classroom where learners can explore the relationship between environment and medicine. It nurtures awareness of traditional knowledge systems, encourages ecological sensitivity, and inspires appreciation for the healing wisdom preserved through generations. The garden stands as a bridge between ancient practices and modern learning — a peaceful space where education, conservation, and wellbeing grow together.
